7 Questions for Comparing Material Processing Equipment Manufacturers on Quality, Price and Value

Marion Sales Enablement Blog 2

Mixers and blenders that last decades don’t always need to come with a hefty price tag.

So how can you find the right supplier when weighing your material processing equipment options based on quality and price? Asking yourself the following questions can help:

1. How many years has the manufacturer made material processing equipment?

Experience matters when it comes to choosing an equipment partner. Be wary of newer companies that promise big results but lack the insights and scale that come with experience.

2. Do I have sufficient information to accurately compare quotes?

Remember not to let assumptions prevent you from asking for quotes from sales representatives. You should do your due diligence and get quotes from enough reputable manufacturers to be sure you’re comparing quotes accurately and objectively.

3. Are there additional costs for installation, training or maintenance?

Be sure to ask about post-sales support, such as installation and commissioning, training and maintenance calls, and whether they are included in the price or not. Do they offer free installation supervision for additional cost savings and increased peace of mind? Do they have a large inventory and fast lead times on spare parts that can help you avoid a downtime emergency?

4. Does the manufacturer specialize in custom equipment or do they primarily offer base models?

Does it seem like the manufacturer is pushing a specific SKU or are they asking questions to really understand your specific process needs? Going with a manufacturer who can customize a solution to you application versus a “one-size-fits-all approach” can save you a lot of headaches.

5. Does the manufacturer allow you to test your material in the equipment before buying it?

You may also want to ask if they can verify the performance and dependability of the machine with a material test before you buy for additional peace of mind. That way, you’ll know if you’re getting a machine that can deliver cost savings for your specific application.

6. What manufacturing standards and certifications does the manufacturer adhere to?

Common standards and certifications include Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP), FDA, USDA, Baking Industry Sanitation Standards Committee (BISSC) and other international standards that certify a product has met international health, safety and environmental requirements.

7. What is the length and coverage of the manufacturer’s warranty?

Does the manufacturer offer the ability to extend your warranty beyond a standard 12-month warranty? Does the warranty include only parts or just service? Understanding what other value-adds are offered with the sale of your equipment is crucial.

Not every material processing equipment provider is alike. That’s why taking the time to evaluate manufacturing standards, brand reputation and updated pricing is key, according to Seth Vance, CEO of Advanced Material Processing.

“There are a lot of material processing equipment manufacturers out there who say they can offer a competitive price on premium equipment,” Vance said. “But with recent operational improvements to streamline our production processes and better utilize resources, Marion’s customers are often pleasantly surprised to learn how competitively priced we are on our high-performing and built-to-last equipment.”

How Marion Manufactures Equipment that’s Built to Last at a Competitive Price

Why do Marion mixers, blenders, lump breakers and microwave-assisted heating equipment have a reputation for providing customers with reliable performance for the long haul and at a better price than most would think? Unlike other manufacturers, we have the resources and the scale to offer more value at a better price with:

Increased supplier purchasing power for greater flexibility and control over raw materials.

Innovative designs that improve the strength, efficiency and longevity of the equipment.

Operational efficiency that helps reduce production and logistical costs that do not add customer value.

Comprehensive testing to provide peace of mind (and data) that you are getting a dependable machine.

After-sales support from high-quality spare parts for most makes and models to service contracts, warranties, installation support and troubleshooting to ensure long-lasting performance.
