Making the Grade in Sanitary Standards: 3-A Certified

February 15, 2024

When it comes to providing the highest level of sanitation standards, does your blending equipment make the grade? Unless it’s 3-A authorized, the answer is no. 3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. (3-A SSI) is an independent, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to advancing hygienic equipment design for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.

3-A Sanitary Standards specify the criteria for the design and fabrication of equipment that comes into contact with food. The guiding purpose of 3-A Sanitary Standards is to protect public health by using sanitary equipment. 3-A Sanitary Standards have two main goals: to protect food from contamination, and to ensure that all product contact surfaces can be mechanically cleaned and be dismantled easily for manual cleaning or inspection.

Although many companies claim they are compliant with 3-A Sanitary Standards, few can prove it. Without authorization to hold the 3-A symbol, they are just imitators.  As the only 3-A authorized producer of #35-04 blending equipment, we’ve created a helpful checklist to separate the impostors from the real deal.
