Making the Grade With 3-A Sanitary Standards

(3-A SSI) is an independent, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to advancing hygienic equipment design for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. 

3-A Sanitary Standards specify the criteria for the design and fabrication of equipment that comes into contact with food. The guiding purpose of 3-A Sanitary Standards is to protect public health by using sanitary equipment. 3-A Sanitary Standards have two main goals: to protect food from contamination, and to ensure that all product contact surfaces can be mechanically cleaned and be dismantled easily for manual cleaning or inspection.
